- Shayne Kasai
I was recently shortlisted to pitch my idea for a series of shorts to the Knowledge Network. This has been one of the greatest experiences of my life.
With that said, I did not get the commission but this doesn’t mean that I have given up on my series - in fact, I have been planning to do this for about two years and I will start filming two pilots this summer.
I made some observations which will be helpful in the future:
- Relax: I was a little more nervous than I should have been, granted this was my first pitch.
- Keep it short: for me, I felt it was more important to say what the film was about right at the beginning.
- Titles are important: I already had a pretty awesome title.
- Learn from others: there were some really impressive pitches - and this is an excellent opportunity to refine the flow and content.
